A Hootsuite alternative priced per client, not per seat
19 October 2026. 5 min read.
Most people looking for a Hootsuite alternative are not unhappy with the scheduling. They are unhappy with the shape of the bill. Hootsuite prices per user, so the cost of letting a second person near the account is another full seat, and the client approval workflow sits on a tier most small agencies never reach. Ignis prices by client workspace instead: one price covers ten people, and the white-label approval portal is included rather than unlocked. This post sets out where that helps, and the two places Hootsuite genuinely covers more ground.
What Hootsuite costs
From Hootsuite’s plans page, read in a browser on 2026-10-20. Every tier is priced per user per month, and the page’s own footnote states the figures are in US dollars, based on annual billing, and exclude tax:
- Standard, $99 per user per month: up to 10 social accounts, one inbox, unlimited scheduled posts.
- Professional, $199 per user per month: unlimited social accounts, automated inbox replies and workflows.
- Advanced, $399 per user per month: the first tier with approvals, described on the page as reviewing and approving content with your team, plus message assignment and routing.
- Enterprise: custom pricing.
There is no free plan, only a 14 day trial, and seats are listed as “1+” on every paid tier.
At the dirham peg those are roughly AED 364, AED 731 and AED 1,465 a month for one person. The number that matters more for an agency is the second seat, because per-user pricing multiplies: three people who need approvals are on Advanced at $1,197 a month, about AED 4,396, before a single client is added. The social media tax calculator sets Hootsuite against five other tools by channel count, each figure taken from the vendor’s own pricing page.
Per seat against per client workspace
Ignis Growth is AED 49 a month and covers one client workspace with ten seats. Members past ten are AED 5.50 each. So the second, fifth and tenth person on your team cost nothing extra, which is the opposite of how per-user pricing behaves.
If you run several clients, Agency is the same AED 49 for the first client workspace and ten members, then AED 29 for each additional client workspace. Five client workspaces come to AED 165 a month, ten come to AED 310, thirty come to AED 890. Annual billing is ten times the monthly figure, so two months are free: five client workspaces are AED 1,650 for the year, or AED 27.50 per client workspace per month. Hootsuite’s figures above are already on its own annual basis, so those two compare directly.
The white-label client approval portal is included on Growth and Agency. It is not an add-on and it has no separate price, which is the part that usually changes the comparison: with Hootsuite the approval workflow is what you move up a tier for.
The inbox is the part a scheduler leaves out
Ignis puts Instagram DMs, Messenger and WhatsApp in one list per client, alongside comments and mentions from Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Reply windows close, and Ignis shows the time remaining on the conversation while you are reading it.
WhatsApp is the one worth pointing at, because it is where Gulf customers actually message a business and almost no social tool carries it. A number connects through the same self-serve flow as every other platform, and it carries real two-way conversations and message templates. One honest bound on that: our production proof is a connection made through that flow, so treat it as working rather than as proven for every business on day one.
Where Hootsuite covers more than Ignis
Two things, and neither is a detail.
Ignis publishes to five platforms: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube. It does not publish to X, Pinterest or Snapchat. If any of those three is on a client’s plan, Ignis cannot be the only tool you run, and platform coverage is usually the first column an agency compares.
LinkedIn comments and mentions do not reach the Ignis inbox. Connecting LinkedIn and publishing to it both work; the comments do not come back, because LinkedIn’s own Community Management API does not ship its notification product at the access tier Ignis holds. If LinkedIn community management is the job, that gap is real.
Threads is not available at all. Meta has the Threads app in development mode with its permissions rejected and a resubmission pending, so nobody can connect a Threads account through Ignis today.
The image editor and the multi-track video editor both run in the browser, and both are beta.
Who should actually switch
A Hootsuite alternative makes sense here if your bill is growing because of people rather than because of clients, if you want a client to approve work through a branded link without buying a higher tier for it, and if your clients message you on WhatsApp and Instagram rather than only commenting in public. It does not make sense if you post to X or Pinterest, or if LinkedIn comment management is central to what you sell. Those are coverage facts, not matters of taste, and no amount of pricing makes up for a platform that is not there.
Questions people ask
Is there a cheaper Hootsuite alternative for a small agency?
Ignis Agency starts at AED 49 a month for one client workspace with ten members, and adds AED 29 per extra client workspace, so five clients are AED 165 a month. Hootsuite starts at $99 per user per month, about AED 364, and approvals begin on Advanced at $399 per user per month, about AED 1,465.
Does a Hootsuite alternative need to include client approvals?
If you work with clients, yes, and the question to ask is which tier it comes on. The Ignis white-label approval portal is included on Growth and Agency, not sold separately and not held back for a higher plan.
Can I reply to WhatsApp messages from the same place I schedule posts?
In Ignis, yes. WhatsApp sits in the same per-client inbox as Instagram DMs and Messenger, with message templates, connected self-serve. Note that WhatsApp has no feed, so there is nothing to schedule to it: Ignis connects to six platforms and publishes to five.
Does Ignis post to X or Twitter?
No. Ignis publishes to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube. X, Pinterest and Snapchat are not supported, and if a client needs them you will need something alongside Ignis.
Is there a free plan?
Basic is free with one seat, one client workspace, three connected accounts and 30 posts a month across three platforms. Its inbox is readable but you cannot reply from it, and automations and the client portal are not included. It is a way to see the product, not a way to run an agency.
