If you are looking for a manychat alternative because your free account got capped, the honest answer is that most alternatives only replace half of what you were doing. They automate Instagram and Messenger DMs and nothing else, which leaves you running a separate scheduler and a separate inbox on top. A tool like Ignis handles scheduling and a client inbox in the same place, and its automations cover a trigger, a condition and an action rather than full chat flows.
What actually changed with Manychat in 2026
Manychat’s own free plan caps out at 25 active contacts a month, checked 2026-09-04. The free tier also drops WhatsApp, SMS and email, and limits you to one user, one inbox seat and four live automations running at once.
The Pro plan covers up to 2,500 active contacts a month, checked 2026-09-04. Go past that and Manychat charges $0.05 per extra contact on a monthly subscription, or $0.038 per extra contact on an annual one, with three users and two inbox seats included.
Manychat’s help centre also confirms this sits inside a five plan structure, Free, Essential, Pro, Business and Advanced, introduced on 2 March 2026 and rolled out by region and account age. manychat.com/pricing itself returned an error to our fetcher when we checked, so verify the exact dollar amount for Pro in your own browser rather than trusting a screenshot. The contact tiers and overage rates above come straight from Manychat’s help articles, which is why we quote those for Pro and not a Pro monthly price.

Most Manychat alternatives only solve half the job
Search for a manychat alternative and you mostly find other DM automation tools. Same category, same one job: they answer Instagram comments, they qualify leads in Messenger, and that’s where the job stops. None of them post the content that starts the conversation, and none of them show you the DM sitting next to the comment it replied to.
That gap is the actual cost of running two single-purpose tools: a scheduler for the posts, a DM tool for the replies, and you doing the translation between them by hand. If you run more than one client, that translation is the part that eats your afternoon. We go through the trade-off properly in Do you need both a scheduler and a DM automation tool?
What Ignis does instead, and what it doesn’t
Ignis is a manychat alternative for small business owners and small agencies who also need somewhere to schedule posts and read a client’s DMs, comments and mentions in one list. Publishing and the inbox live together, and light automation sits on top of both.
Automations on the Growth plan, AED 49 a month, work as a trigger, a condition and an action: something happens, a condition gets checked, Ignis does one thing. That’s covered properly in Social media automations that earn their keep. They aren’t available on the free Basic plan at all.
Be clear about what that isn’t. It isn’t a flow builder, so you can’t chain branching chat logic the way Manychat’s flow builder does.
It doesn’t write and send AI replies on its own either. Ignis’s AI drafts a caption or a reply, and a person still sends it.
Outside of a confirmed WhatsApp template, it also doesn’t fire outbound WhatsApp broadcasts. If what you need is a multi-step chatbot with AI-written replies and WhatsApp template broadcasts, that’s Manychat’s job, not Ignis’s.
The 24 hour window applies whichever tool you use
This part has nothing to do with which tool you pick. Meta’s own Messenger Platform documentation sets a 24 hour standard messaging window: once a person messages you, you can reply freely for 24 hours, and after that the rules tighten no matter what sits on top.
There is one exception. Meta’s platform policy allows a human agent tag that lets a real person send one manual reply up to 7 days after the message, but that tag is for a human typing a reply, not an automated one. Ignis shows you the time left in that window inside the same inbox where you’re reading the message, so you know when you’re about to lose the free reply and when you’re inside the seven day human-only exception. We cover this properly in Instagram DM and WhatsApp reply windows: the 24 hour rule.
A cheaper manychat alternative for small business budgets
If the number that pushed you to look for a manychat alternative was the drop from a bigger free allowance to 25 active contacts, the maths on Ignis’s side is straightforward. Basic is free with 1 seat, 1 client workspace, 3 connected accounts and 30 posts a month across 3 platforms. Growth is AED 49 a month with 10 seats, unlimited posts, all eight platforms and automations included. Full details sit on Pricing.
For comparison, Manychat’s cheapest paid plan was $14 a month billed annually, or $17 billed monthly, when we checked on 25 September 2026: about AED 51 and AED 62 at the dirham peg, and it is a tightly limited plan. So Growth costs less than Manychat’s entry tier either way you pay for it, and Basic costs nothing at all.
That AED 49 a month buys scheduling, the inbox and light automation together, not DM automation alone. It won’t replace a flow builder or WhatsApp broadcast templates, and it isn’t trying to. If your business runs on those two things specifically, Manychat’s paid tiers are built for that job and Ignis isn’t a substitute for it.
Picking a manychat alternative usually comes down to deciding which half of the job matters more to you: the conversation itself, or the calendar and client list sitting around it. Ignis is built for the people who need both in one place, with an honest line drawn where its automations stop and a proper flow builder starts.
Questions people ask
Is there a free manychat alternative for Instagram DM automation?
Ignis’s Basic plan is free and includes a shared inbox for Instagram DMs, Messenger, WhatsApp, comments and mentions across 1 client workspace and 3 connected accounts, though automations only unlock on the paid Growth plan. Manychat’s own free plan caps out at 25 active contacts a month, per its help centre.
Does Ignis replace Manychat’s flow builder?
No. Ignis automations run on a trigger, a condition and one action rather than multi-step branching chat flows, so if you rely on Manychat’s flow builder for complex conversation logic, Ignis won’t reproduce it.
Why did my Manychat free plan drop to 25 contacts?
Manychat’s help centre confirms its free plan is capped at 25 active contacts each billing month as part of a five plan structure introduced 2 March 2026. The limit resets every cycle rather than acting as a lifetime cap on contacts you’ve saved.
Does Ignis send automated WhatsApp replies like Manychat?
Not outside a confirmed WhatsApp template. Ignis’s automations cover triggers, conditions and actions across the connected inbox, but broadcast-style WhatsApp automation isn’t part of that scope.
What happens after the 24 hour Instagram DM window closes?
Meta’s Messenger Platform policy allows a human agent tag for one manual, human-written reply within 7 days of the last message, but it doesn’t allow automated replies once the 24 hour standard window closes. Ignis shows you the time remaining in that window inside the inbox.
